Bauhinia Corymbosa, this showy, tropical climbing plant smothers a trellis along my side garden and loves the hot, sunny spot.
Look closer and you can see why it has the common names of orchid vine and butterfly vine.
Nalinki on “Angles and views” is hosting a weekly series called: “Flowersoverflowers”, it will be posted every Tuesday. The idea is to bring some more colorful pics of nature into our blogosphere
How special is this wonderful climber. Beautiful flowers 🙂 Very lovely xx

Oh, my, I looked up the tree and it is magnificent! This is a very pretty climber, does it need to be tied to a support or does it ramble happily on its own? And is it scented?

It just rambles on its own every where rampantly, needs heavy pruning every few years or it travels into the neighbours trees. No scent.

A beautiful flower, and floral display. Does it have a scent as well?

And the leaf shapes give it another name in Kenya which has 3 indigenous species of bauhinia the ‘camel’s foot’. It is indeed a lovely plant.

So beautiful, and there is a tree variety too, how wonderful that must be brightening up a street!

I pass one in a park when I bike to the shopping centre and it is just coming into flower. I must take my camera with me next time I go.

You may know the Bauhinia tree it is very common around here as a street tree and is a darker pink. This climbing variety is not so common.
