Beautiful, colourful pictures. Great contribution to the weekly photo contest! I especially loved the first close up picture of what looks like it is a flower? The details are great, you can even see the small ‘hairs’ on the flower!

My favourite had to be the Bird if Paradise. My Mum fell in love with them on her fist trip to Australia and after that she always had a clump in her garden.

They are so easy to grow over here almost to the point of being invasive. Do you have one in your garden?

I remember that Mum always chose a hot and dry spot in her garden. And if she got the spot right they went crazy! My garden is more cottagey in style.

I had a cottage style garden in NZ but most of those type of plants don’t like the humidity over here, so I just had to go with the flow and plant tropical style garden…

Yes, I think I would too. And I have to say that, the result of being away for so long this summer and a drought, my garden is currently looking very, very sad and neglected.

You must be soooo looking forward to spring. Have you had a hard winter in your part of the world?

Yes, it’s been extremely cold for over a month, with lots of snow thrown in, and freezing rain. Not normal for this region. But we’re supposed to have a week of almost normal temps, beginning today. Hopefully all snow will be gone, and not replaced!
