I joined an inspiring art group in February. Along with an enthusiastic and talented collection of women with an aptitude for art, and Jack, our token and very talented male, and with Denise our tutor and mentor to guide us along the path of creating and experimenting with all different styles of painting. It is fun.
Denise has a background of art and for the past 4 years she has organised an annual exhibition to showcase her students art work and this year I am excited to be taking part in it. It is a new experience for me and I would like to invite you along to join in.
But first the preparation…
It is rather a large area, will we have enough art to fill the walls? But first all the hangers have to be strung together and put in place.
Elwyn is the tallest and has the job of putting up the hangers.
All ready for viewing. Good team work.
Now we can go home, get changed and be ready for the 6pm opening.
*********************
The team arrive at 5-30pm with nibbles and drinks…
Now we wait for the crowds to arrive and have a drink of wine while we wait.
Then people start to wander in. What a lovely feeling to have visitors interested to see what we have all been doing.
Time to draw the door prize and Jack is invited to pick out the winning ticket
The delighted winners give Denise a hug.
A few of the paintings sold, and I was delighted that 2 of mine sold.
I hope you have enjoyed your virtual visit to our exhibition. It was a fun evening of nibbling, drinking and chatting. Now I am hooked and will start creating more paintings for next year…
I enjoyed this post so much!! My goodness what a talented group!! Your horses are indeed great.

What a truly interesting post Lorraine. Presentation is always so important and our efforts displayed all works to good advantage. Loved the before and after pictures. Well done you on selling two and to the others of us who also had success. I especially enjoyed the pictures of the opening. It was a consolation to me for not being there.

Pleased you enjoyed the “virtual” opening Chris, sorry you couldn’t make it after all the help and effort in the preparation. But there is always next year!

Oh they are beautiful paintings. I love the bright colours of the cute lorikeets and my 8yr old daughter adores horses. I could just imagine it on her wall.

I will have to do more horses that one could’ve sold a couple of times, as could the lorikeets…

It looks like a lot of fun, Pauline. What a buzz to sell your paintings. Can you show us which ones?

It certainly was a buzz, very encouraging. The 2 in the last photos Jill, the horses, it was a coloured pencil sketch and the lorikeets was an acrylic painting.

Of course! And I spotted the lorikeets on the wall, too. I remember them from an earlier post. I just showed the horses to John. We both think you’re very talented, Pauline.

How great to be invited to attend the opening from afar. And what a talent you, and all of you, have. You’re obviously true artists – wine proves it as well as what I can see hanging on the wall. Which paintings of yours sold?

Wine is a boost to the euphoria Meg… The last 2 photos show my 2 that sold. The horses, a coloured pencil sketch, being held by their new owner, and the lorikeets the large acrylic painting.
