I am back home for a while so today I would like to take you with me on a SHORT tour around the canals of the Goldcoast. The tourist and theme park capital of Queensland.
So welcome aboard this rather short boat…
The Goldcoast became popular as a tourist area in the 1930’s when people travelled south from Brisbane to enjoy the beach and surf of this fabulous area. Developers saw the potential and in the 1950’s and 60’s major development took place to drain the swamp (now more politically correct to call it wet-lands) and create a network of canals.
The sections that lined the canals had water views and became exclusive and expensive millionaire properties. This two hour cruise aboard the Jindalee (Click the link for more details of price and times)gives you a close up look at some of these palatial homes. (maybe we will get to house sit in one of them!) Image of some of the canals from Google images
After being served a cup of coffee and scone we arrived back on dry land to catch the bus home…
I hope you enjoyed your cruise with me and a brief look at the way the wealthy live on the Goldcoast.
