Can I put this in Norm’s “Thursday Doors” challenge? Technically I think it is a gate. But I couldn’t resist taking its photo and I had to go through it.
I’m sure all Australians will know where I am going, but I wonder how many other people who visit this post from around the world will know where I am hurrying to.
Today we went for a country drive and I am in the quaint village of Mooball. With a population of approximately 300, they have embraced the idea of the cow in the name of their village and everything that doesn’t move has been decorated with the black and white splodges of the Friesian cow.
Even this old tractor has been given the treatment.
They also have a collection of motorbikes in a shed alongside the café. Jack was quite taken with this one…
But he had to leave it behind, it was too big to get on…

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing it, between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time)
this is really fun (mmmmooooloooo) and I like the gate or door – think it fits perfect –
also – did you know we have a chain fast food chicken place called chik-fil-A – and they give away free meals every spring – but only if you come in dressed like a cow. So we used to have a few t-shirts with these prints – and some accessories – just a fun event.
also- these photos reminded me of Vermont for some reason -hmmm

No I hadn’t heard of chik-fil-a. Sounds like a fun place. Did many people take up the challenge?

What have I missed out on? I’ve driven past many times but not stopped, having had a regulatory dunny stop earlier.
That’s for taking us there. Much appreciated.

Oh yes, when you have to go you have to go…

Loved that, I still remember the old D..ny in our back yard. We used to have to walk a long way and it was so scary if you had to go during the night. Plus all the spider webs. Harvey in WA has a lot of cow images around their town just like this one.

Thank goodness the backyard dunny is a thing of the past.I remember going through Harvey, another cute town.

I love the painting of the cow on the wall. The whole moo theme gives the town character.

Dunny Lane? I have no idea what manner of stuff lies within. But I can tell you this: In China, in Mandarin, there is no difference between a gate and a door. In America, it’s only the material it’s made of that makes a difference. I once saw a fence with a gate made made from a car door…there you have it.

You have never heard of the dunny??? Your education is lacking BF!!! It is an Aussie slang term what Americans call the bathroom or the John. Lots of other terms for it over here. Thanks for the stamp of approval about the lack of difference between a gate and a door…

nope…new to me…but I like it better than john.

What a great place, Pauline – the people in this town aren’t moochers, that’s for sure 😀

I went through Mooball back in 1998 – I don’t remember it being quite so colourful then, but I did make my son stop the car so I could take a photo of the name!

Back then the Pacific Highway went through the centre of the village, but about 2004 a bypass was put in and it became a back water, so that’s when they adopted the cow thing to attract people to drop in off the motorway.

Good idea, though I’m not entirely sure about places that become like a theme park.

Not a theme park here Jude just an angle to attract people to stop by once they were bypassed by the Pacific motorway.

I didn’t mean an actual theme park, but that contrived idea where everything is themed. I know it is to attract visitors, but sometimes it becomes just a little too twee if you know what I mean. Chemainus on Vancouver Island is like that, lovely murals, but maybe just too many?

The pacific motorway used to go through the centre of the village, it now bypasses it, so you have to do a detour to visit it.

Did that lane lead to a throne, by any chance? 😉 And did The Hulk come back for his bike? 🙂
