There are a family of 4, Mum, Dad and 2 babies live around here some where. I think this is one of the youngsters out on his own, he looked a bit nervous.
They wake us early with their raucous laugh. Have you ever heard the call of the kookaburra?
Here is one I found on You Tube. Be warned they are very noisy…
How funny Pomme – I’ve heard them but never seen one. What a gorgeous capture! How nice of him to pose for you 🙂

Some times about 6am, but I prefer their wake up call to the endless barking dog that lives a few doors away…

I have never heard them and when I saw your opening photo, I was hoping you had a video, too. And, you did! Thank you. Also, I had to look up the meaning of larrikin–a new term for me. Looks like I need to read more Australian novels.

Australians have a lot of unique expressions, or at least they used to. Unfortunately the younger generation now seem to follow your countries lead, I guess from all the TV sitcoms etc and mostly use American slang, interspersed with lots of graffiti words…

I love them. The babies are funny when they are trying to learn to laugh. they make a strange noise like they are choking. TFS. cheers Toni
