Last week I noticed this strange box of dirt or sand in the centre of Robina (to see more of Robina click here), the large shopping complex.
Whatever could it be?
No signs or posters to tell us what was happening.
Today I went back to Robina to do some shopping and look what I found.
A transformation. A delightful sand sculpture is now in the place of that pile of dirt.
Look at the expression in the Lion Kings eye. A work of art…

How appropriate that this week Ailsa has chosen “transformation” as her “Travel Theme”
This is also advertising that a sand sculpture competition is being held at Surfers Paradise this week-end. We will have to go and see it tomorrow.
Way cool!

I love sand sculptures, but have never come across them before they transformed into sculptures! Great!

We wondered what that boxed pile of sand was going to be, but I took a photo anyway…

True…my husband doesn’t like it, but I always have a camera or at least the phone with me.

Must admit I am a camera person, I only have the “old” (like 3 y.o.) Iphone 4 and it does not take good photos it only has 3 megapixels…

Stunning, Pauline, from a simple pile of sand. I wonder if that eye really is a webcam!

The eye has a certain dark and foreboding look about it doesn’t it.

The Lion Kings eye is a webcam I guess

There are no additives but water as a special sort of river mouth sand is used. Just got back from Surfers, now to sort out the photos

Well it was partly luck, partly accident as we caught the wrong bus home from Jack’s ukulele lessons, and instead of going to Burleigh for shopping it took us to Robina… Oh well we thought one shopping centre is as good as another so we hopped off the bus. I had actually forgotten I took that first photo a week or so ago. Then I had one of those light bulb moments when I saw the finished sculpture “Ahha transformation!!!”
