Well Ailsa you almost had me stumped this week. The theme this week is bridges. Many other people have posted some fantastic shots, so click on the link “Where’s my backpack?” and take a look.
I have crossed lots of bridges during my travels but it is not a subject I seem to have many photos of. In Australia the bridges tend to be an extension of the highway. Flash flooding can cause extensive damage during the rainy season but as we travel during the dry in many cases the river beds are wide and, well, dry… With the road, and by definition, the bridge, passing high over this expanse of sand and rock.
So it was a dive into the hard drive and surprisingly I found a few. I even found one I had taken of that iconic Australian symbol the old “coat-hanger”, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
So here they are, in no particular order, my bridges….
Jack on the swing bridge! 🙂 The Kawarau River bridge makes my heart stop just looking at it. The Queenstown Botanic Gardens bridge is lovely.

These are spectacular! I’d be petrified on some of them, and wouldn’t allow Jack anywhere near!

Yes it is. I love it too, the amazing story of one mans dream and what determination and commitment can acheive. I call in every time we go past on our way up north. There are a couple of very good freedom camping spots near by too…
