Crow’s capers…

Listen I can hear the sound of violently splashing water. With camera in hand I tiptoe to the window.

The recent heavy rain has filled the bird bath and this crow is having a great time splashing around.

He looks up, I wonder if he has heard me…

I keep very still, then he carries on with his morning ablutions.

Hopping out he has a shake, droplets of water slide off his glossy feathers…

Then, refreshed and glossy, he takes off for his day’s activities.

Couldn’t resist adding this to Ailsa’s glossy travel theme.

  2. the sequence was the best – felt like I was there with the branches so large and in view – and the clear feathers is just so well done. favorite one is the second from he bottom – no – it is the shaking one – (grabs towel) –

  3. Funny, I co-edit a magazine here on Kiawah and this issue has an interesting article on how smart crows are. Now we know they’re clean too!! Great series Pauline, well done!

  4. A great series of photos! Even a crow deserves a nice bath and he seems to be enjoying it.

  5. Wonderful shots. I enjoy watching crows and ravens but, as you say, it’s a shame when they chase away or kill the smaller birds. Maybe things will balance out eventually. Crow pie anyone?

  11. Excellent! You’ve captured the story perfectly. There used to be so many crows at my house in Brisbane. You could always tell if I was on the line on a conference call 😉

  12. Great photo, I love watching birds having a bath. I know crows can be very destructive to farm crops and bullies for other birds, but they are very smart…this one looks smart!

    • They are the smartest bird in the world and I wish they would go away as they have chased off or killed all the beautiful native lorikeets, rosellas and parrots we had here 15 years ago.

    • I know they are Cindy, I remember that interesting post you did about them not so long ago. But I would rather have all the beautiful coloured native birds visiting . The crows have chased them all away or maybe even killed them.
