This is Jacaranda time and these stunning trees are in full flower. The Jacaranda tree is a native of south-central South America, but is found all round the world in tropical and sub-tropical regions.
I went for a drive this morning to capture the beauty of these trees. At the moment they are at their peak flowering. As I stood under them taking photos I was enveloped in their soft sweet perfume, but if it rains or strong winds blow the petals will fall and create a carpet of mauve then it will be over until next year.
This is one of my favourite paintings from the Brisbane Art Gallery.
Nalinki on “Angles and views” is hosting a weekly series called: “Flowersoverflowers”, it will be posted every Tuesday. The idea is to bring some more colorful pics of nature into our blogosphere
Amazing………. 🙂

What a stunning flowering tree – and nice place to have some tea! Rivers’ painting reminds me of a Monet. I have never heard of the jacaranda and your many views of this tree gives a good feel – and the carpet of mauve reminds me of when the cherry blossoms shed their petals and it looks like pink snow….

I thought you would appreciate the Rivers painting Y. Some (strange) people call the petals messy, I love the carpet effect.

Ha! Those strange people are here too- and if it is a mess I say “pretty mess”💕

My parents lived in India for awhile and my mother always loved jacaranda trees. They are such lovely trees and your photographs do them great justice. I miss NZ and all the beautiful flowers and plants there as well as the birdsong especially the beloved Tui.

I only have a week left in NZ before I go home to Australia and the flax plants are just starting to flower. The cabbage trees are in full bloom this year too. This is a beautiful country

Oh beautiful. I hope to find some of these trees here in Tassie.

I think it will be too cold in Tassie for them. They are a tropical tree. You’ll have to visit Queensland at this time of the year.

How fortunate you are to live in a land of Jacarandas. They are one of my very favorite trees but I only rarely get to see them.

They do not like frosty climates. They don’t flower for long but when they do they are stunning.

I love your jacaranda pics and the painting. Really reminds me of when we lived in Johannesburg. The streets in our suburb were lined with jacarandas. 🙂

There is a town called Grafton, south of here, and they have the main streets lined with Jacarandas and they have a Jacaranda festival, next weekend I think. It is on my list of still to see…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in flower 😦 but they are magnificent. How sad that the big old mother tree was lost!

Hurricanes do a lot of damage and many trees get blown over.

I rushed out yesterday to get these photos when a friend who lives in that area told me they were at their peak. If the weather changes they can be blown off over night.

I adore Jacaranda trees. I photographed them last year and today as I was driving home I noticed them all in flower again. You’ve captured them beautifully PP.
