I just had to show you more of “Cooly Rocks On”, so many cars, so many interesting people. Fashion, fun and dancing in the streets on a sunny winters day in the border town of Coolangatta. Get your 50’s gear out of the bottom drawer and take a nostalgic trip with me back to that great era of rock-n-roll.
It is a rev heads paradise with thousands of cars, hot rods, custom cars and classic vehicles.
Just look at these…
The well maintained, polished and immaculate VW on the left. Then you have the well used. The VW icon of the 50’s beach culture.
What can I say about this one? It certainly needs some TLC…
I found this lovely gypsy style caravan and fell in love with it…
It was a great day bringing back many memories.
This cars look amazing!

wonderful post! so much variety – and the old VW bug had so much personality – and so did each of the cars at the show. did you make that video? anyhow, I bet it took him a decade to grow those dreads….

What a cool and colorful event, Pauline. I love all those old cars, the old and rusted, and the new and shiny. I daresay the dreadlocks are not from the 50s! I bet you had a fun time photographing all those fabulous cars and wildly dressed people. A photographer’s heaven. 🙂

It was a good day and the light was perfect. Hardest part was choosing which to put in the post…

That’s always the challenge, Pauline. I don’t know about you, but I take tons of pictures, and then it takes hours and hours to cull them down. 🙂

People really have gone to town with these cars and their costumes too Pauline ! Where’s Jack ?? Rocking and rolling in the crowd or maybe he was eyeing up the vintage hot wheels 🙂

You find such wonderful things to photograph, and photograph them wonderfully. I like the be-lichened beetle best.
