Black and White 5 Day Challenge : Day 1…

Murry Bridge to Meningie 283 b&w_3264x2448

Old rusty vehicles, abandoned to the elements. They remind me of a slower way of life before technology took over. A man could tinker under the bonnet when things went wrong and fix it himself. But gradually the need for speed took over and these old workhorses were left to sadly decay

I have not taken or converted many of my photos to monochrome so this is a special challenge for me. I have noticed this 5 day challenge going around the blog world and Gwennie of “Gwennie’s Garden” has invited me to join in. I love to visit Gwennie, her blog is filled with gorgeous photos of flowers and succulents from her garden and interspersed with stories of her travels. Well worth a visit.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

Today I would like to nominate Jill of “Jill’s Scene” to join in. Of course this is only if you have the time and want to.

Jill has just finished an intrepid journey in Laos, travelling by boat along the rivers and in local buses, the description of the journey and photos should not be missed, they’ll give you itchy feet…

  3. And what cracking choices you have made, Pauline! 🙂

    • Thanks Jo, would you have the time to do this challenge if I nominate you today?

      • I’ve already told Gilly no but I suppose I could. Do I have to start tomorrow and do consecutive days, or is it more flexible?

        Like

        • It seems to be flexible as long as you do 5 days. I noticed Gilly didn’t do them all consecutive. I waited a couple of days before I started my 5. Today is my last one, it has flown by, I will be doing it later, I’m going out now, but just had to have my comments “fix” as soon as I got out of bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Up to you then, Pauline. The difficulty will be finding people to nominate because it’s been running a while now. And I’m not really a B & W person. Sunshine is much more vivid. 🙂 Have a nice day!

  10. This image really translates well to B&W, Pauline. Funny to think these vehicles were once someone’s pride and joy. 😕

  13. That reminds me of when we bought our new ford car. As a mechanic my husband used to fix everything. When we bought that I said aren’t you putting your tools in the boot. He replied what for Its all computerized and my tools won’t fix it.

  15. Those were the days, now no one can fix anything and everything gets thrown away.

    • Such a wasteful society we live in now Gilly. and it costs a fortune to get those modern cars fixed because of all the computerised components. 😦
