Travel Theme : Colourful

It is almost 6 years since I spent a winter on the Goldcoast, so that means I have missed the “Winter Sun Festival” one of the most colourful festivals on the Goldcoast, held the first weekend in June every year . It is now called “Cooly Rocks On Festival

It is a real nostalgia trip back to the 50’s and 60’s. The rock n roll era, days of the huge, extravagant American cars, Elvis Presley was King and the skirts and hair styles were big and bouffant.

It is all here, the music, rock n rolling in the street and the cars, hundreds of them. A rev heads paradise.

Let’s go cruising…

  4. thanks for this cruising so early this morning – nice way to start my day – and your dancing footage was the best ending – makes me wish we could all just dance a little more – in parking lots – living rooms – and driveways! ha!
and I loved the folks in the post – from the couple t-shirt back shot -to the tattoo man – 🙂 ❤

      • thanks for the warm wishes – and we have had some higher temps the last few days (but my family and friends up north are having a rough go in that record breaking early snow storm… so I feel bad) and sweet dreams to ya ❤

  10. Certainly colourful! Not sure about the characters 😕 but love the cars 🙂

    • He was a very friendly bloke Jude, we had a great conversation with him. With the price of petrol now I don’t think those size cars will ever be on the roads again. Then again maybe they have been replaced by the big 4WD that so many people in Australia seem to think they need, even if they never drive off road!!!

      • A “Chelsea Tractor” is the English nickname for them – all the rich wives own one in London and only ever use it to take their children to school or visit the hairdresser 😉

It wouldn’t be a bad thing if we could get rid of all these cars, but public transport would have to be improved, at least in the UK.

        • Yes same happens here all the 4WD waiting outside the schools, with not a speck of dust on them. Have you noticed them all around Sydney? Love the UK name for them…

    • Those were only the tip of the car iceberg Cindy. They had 3 streets closed off to park them all + the showground. It is a bit of a pilgrimage for enthusiasts to come to this festival every year.
