We love house sitting, it is a great way to make new friends, explore different parts of Australia and adopt a new animal family.
So I would like to introduce you to our latest furry and woolly friends.
Notice the park like grounds and mature trees. The alpacas have 20 acres to wander around during the day and each evening I entice them back to their securely fenced night paddock with a bucket of pellets.
We are staying on an idyllic property just 7 kilometres inland from Valla Beach on the Mid-north coast of NSW.
The garden wraps around the house in a profusion of colour and we wake each morning to the song of birds and the distant crowing of a cockerel as he welcomes the day.
Mobile coverage is non-existent and the internet connection is very slow. I wonder is that a good or bad thing!!!
So posts will be few and far between.
What a magnificent place, Pauline. I love the alpacas and that blue healer (I think they call them Australian Shepherds in the US) is just beautiful 😀

This place was created in 1988 by Llynne and Gerry and is a place of love. We are very lucky to be staying here.

Okay, now I know who Rufus is. But I didn’t know you knew how to take care of Alpacas. You can add that to your lengthy list of expertise……You have the best post retirement job in the world. Do you have house sitters sit at your house? 😉

Alpacas have a very aloof personality, but I’m slowly getting one of them to let me stroke his nose. We have our house rented to friends.

So, it’s not well connected to the modern world … it’s someone’s Paradise – how terrific to have a taste of it! Enjoy yourselves 🙂

It gets a bit of getting used to Meridith, not having a fast connection, lots of wandering off to make cups of coffee while things load down. It is like the old days of a few years ago….

The alpacas certainly have a character all of their own. Quite different to any other animals we have looked after

They are a bit stand offish and won’t let me stroke them. I’m hoping to win them over with food…

G’day, thanks for the comment. I use the “housecarers” web site, they are very good and have houses all over Australia and world wide.

Those three boys might be aloof and haughty, Pauline, but it looks like they know who’s got the food!
