Hampton Arms Bar
The Hampton Arms Hotel was built in 1863 and we had a delicious lunch there after we went back in time last Sunday, as we followed the Greenough heritage trail. These are a few more windows from that drive.
Look at the thickness of the walls.
This added a touch of whimsy
This heritage store is waiting for renovation and the corrugated sheets keep prowlers out.
You have already seen “Home Cottage ” in another post but I had to add just one more window from that lovely old house/museum
Another interesting building is the old goal in Geraldton. It has been well-preserved and is now used as a craft shop with each small cell used as a display of hand-made crafts.

Even the skylights are barred. No getting out of this goal.

Hi pommepal, the windows of the Old Goal might be windows but your photos tell the tale of entrapment especially the small patch of sky.

What great significance the sky must have had each day for the inmate looking out of that little window PP .
I’d love a sunny window ledge for herbs .. I’ve not got an owl 🙂

Prison was very tough back then, no Tv or even much exercise, only allowed out into a very small courtyard for about an hour each day.

well I loved your series of photos for a few reasons – the variety – and the heritage – as you note int he title. But for some reason, my two favorite are the Hampton Arms Bar and the Home Cottage one:
and the reason these two resonated with me is because of the extras you gave us- you gave us the windows in their context –
First – the home cottage window takes on a totally different feel when you see that cool art hanging to the left. Also, the drapes are just average – but when you back up – and see the shot that you gave us – well the drapes went up a notch in my book and it looks like such a pleasant, soft toned room.
Second – the Bar one – the action shot of the lady with the red shirt just compliments that art in the window – and I have also been visiting some blogs that do street portraits – and so the sense of life you give us makes that old window feel even more vivacious. and then we have a touch of the ceiling and the pattern in the bar front down low – just a great shot – and also – the waitress/bar maid is moving and so her shot is not a bit clear – which reminds us that it is all about the window –
anyhow, really enjoyed your lingering look at windows – 🙂 you take some great photographs.

That is such a lovely comment, I love how you have told me what it is about the photos that caught your eye. When I arrived back home (well what we call home at the moment!) and down loaded the photos I wished I had taken one of just the window in the bar and if I had that may have been the one I put in the post, but you are right the friendly bar maid added to the character of the shot. I think “Home Cottage” had been a place of love and happiness as, even as a museum, it had an aura about it.
