A difficult theme for me this week as I don’t take many night photos, but one memorable illuminated moment was during our stay in Sydney, just before Christmas, I watched the magnificent Sydney Town Hall illuminated with magical lasers and computerized images and I took a short video of it.
*******************
Then I remembered all those magical moments around camp fires, cooking over the coals in the camp oven. Watching the sunset illuminating the sky in a rich red glow. Enjoying a glass of wine as the casserole simmered. The fire light flickers and illuminates a small circle while the rest of the surrounding bush disappears into dark shadows.
Beautiful memories of time spent exploring and camping in the Australian bush. I hope you have enjoyed your short stay around some of our camp fires.

Thank you Ailsa for this weeks theme. It has brought back all those memories. Go over to “Where’s my backpack” to see the many lights on Ailsa’s post.
I do love a good campfire and yours looks very happy 🙂

Not a lot of places in Australia that they allow fires. Most camp fires we had where in Western Australia and you had to be very careful that they were fully out.

Yes, I guess you would have to be very careful.

That is impressive, good luck (though really it is not luck but perseverance that wins the prize…)

Beautiful selection of pics for the theme, Pommepal. I’m really loving the campfire ones the most. 🙂 Chicken casserole, Damper and wine out under the stars, sounds like a great way to spend an evening.

It’s certainly good especially when the evenings are so balmy, have to put lots of mossie repellent on though…

Just beautiful, your campfire shots really capture the mood rather than the action, can almost smell the smoke. Beautiful! We will certainly do some camping when we return home. The photo of Jack by the campfire was an amazing character study. We really miss this wonderful man and his wisdom.

I love the town hall illuminations – those light shows look amazing, sadly I have never seen one!

It was amazing and went on for nearly 10 minutes. It showed Santa and the reindeers and then Santa going down the chimney, kids waking up to the presents etc. etc. I went to see it 3 times as we were staying just 5 minutes walk away

The Town Hall was pretty amazing at Christmas. What an interesting life you lead, Pauline. Maybe one day, I will meet new friends around a campfire. I’ve never done that.

G’day Maddie, it is a highlight of travel for me. Briefly making contact and sharing happy hour with like minded people before moving on. Some of them have remained in contact after moving on and become good friends. You should experience camping and the freedom it brings. I will miss it now we have sold Matilda… 😦

Matilda was a gem. Do you have any plans to pick up another vehicle for camping?

We have most of this year mapped out for house sitting. We will fly to each place then will be using the home owners cars, so at the moment we are not going to buy a vehicle. We now walk or bike every where…But the long term plan, end of this year, is to get a car and then a small camper trailer as we will not be doing the long distance travel. But who knows what the future will bring…

That sounds like a good plan. House sitting is an adventure in itself. I’m looking forward to following your travels however you get there. 🙂
