Timeout for Art : Goodbye Yungaburra

How time has flown, after 3 months house sitting at Malanda it is now almost time to gather together all our “stuff”, that has spread through the house, and find space to pack it back into Matilda. But before we go I must visit Yungaburra, my favourite village round here, get a hair cut and have a final cup of coffee at “The Whistle Stop”.

I also want to “take timeout for art”. Lisa from “Zeebra Designs and Destinations” is a very talented artist living and creating in Ecuador. She posts a weekly “timeout for art” challenge that inspired me, about 2 months ago, to take up pencil and rubber and begin sketching. It has become a passion and I try to produce a sketch most days. So today I wanted to try to sketch my favourite coffee shop.

Then, of course, I had to go inside for a cup of coffee and when we walked in we saw these gorgeous 8 week old puppies that belonged to the owner of the café. Jack just had to take their photos. I would like to pop them in my bag to take back home.

  1. I’m rather late to the party – hadn’t ‘followed’ you so keep missing your posts. Have changed that now! Anyway just wanted to say how much I admire your sketching – I’d love to take that up, but haven’t drawn since school (a long time ago).

    • G’day Jude, welcome to my world, it is such an honour when some one presses the follow button. You are my 500th follower I feel I should give you a certificate… 🙂

I hadn’t done much drawing since school days but Lisa from “designs and destinations encourages people to take timeout for art so a few weeks ago I did just that. You should give it a try you might surprise yourself

  5. Your sketch is wonderful!!! 🙂 I follow Zee but I’ve never put pen to paper yet. Matchstick men were my forte in my schooldays and I doubt I will have progressed. I do envy those who can, though.
    Happy travels 🙂

  7. I love your sketch! You definitely have talent! Somehow with the simple lines, you manage to convey texture and depth. Someday I’d love to be able to sketch or to paint, but I think I’d better find some community ed classes first 🙂 The puppies are so sweet and such cute little balls of fluff!

    • Thanks Beth, I think whether the end results of sketching are any good the act of being absorbed in sketching you really see the detail in front of you

  8. You’re good to take part – I keep kicking myself about not doing that, about not sketching or drawing, but I guess there’s only so much you can do at any given time. I like the look of that coffee shop – there are quite a few rustic places to be found in the Pacific northwest, and I always appreciate the atmosphere.

    • G’day Deanna, I knew you would like these pups. Those trees had really unusual branches I have only got an indication of what they are like.

    • They grey one is a Shitzu/Maltese terrier. That is the same cross that Henry was, the adorable little dog we looked after in Hobart. The other is a Shitzu/Miniature Poodle
