The rain it came…

What a satisfying sound it is to be laying in bed and hear the rain start to fall. I fell asleep thinking of the plants relishing the moisture…

It rained all night and I hurried outside as soon as I woke up. The rain gauge recorded 35mm had fallen. I wandered around the garden with my camera to catch the freshness of the rain drops on the flowers and foliage. Every thing had a sheen and glossy glow of happiness.

Matilda Update

The reconditioned gear box is finally installed. This weekend she will be going for a long trial run. Then, hopefully I will be able to bring her home….

  5. Wonderful photos, Pommepal. Lying in bed listening to the rain, is very comforting, as long as the roof doesn’t leak, 🙂

    • Yes I agree about the leaky roof I have had that experience in the past. Buckets placed at strategic points to catch the drips…

Yes it’s Autumn/Winter here in Spain, it’s still quite warm at about 20c but will get colder in Dec/Jan which I like as it’s nice to light the fire..

    • Yes sitting around a fire in the winter with the wind and rain howling outside is so comforting. Have not had that experience for a long time, do not have fireplaces or chimneys in Queensland….

We are also experiencing our ‘rainy season’ with mega rainfall day & night; it’s very necessary though as we have no rain at all beween end of April and October most years.
Hope all goes well with Matilda and the relacement gear box.

    • Is it winter in your part of the world? We get our rain now, hopefully, through summer months also dry same time as you but that is our winter…

  9. Ah, there’s nothing like the sound and aroma of those first drought-quenching rains! Your photos were the icing to a great post, and I could visualize you tipping outside and rejoicing in the life-giving rain!

    • Thank you, I was so excited to hear and see the rain I actually rushed out in my nighty, fortunately we have good fences around the back yard, but the front is all open so sense prevailed and I went in and changed before going round the front garden…
