Travel Theme : Animals (3)

Cassowary comes visiting, originally uploaded by gypsy woman1.

This was one creature we had a very up close and personal view of. Look at Jack’s face, he is quite worried…

This encounter was at Boulders National Park near Innisfail when we visited there in July 2011. I have a video I took at the same camp ground to see it click on this link.. https://pommepal.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/cassowary-video

This is my third entry this week for Ailsas Travel Theme. You can see lots more by clicking on the link and visiting her site http://wheresmybackpack.com/2012/10/05/travel-theme-animals/

  5. I’d have been a tad worried too! Is he a carnivore?

    • Fortunately no, but those claws on his BIG feet have been known to make a nasty rip. There has been one recorded case of a man being killed by a cassowary…

  7. Oh my! Jack is certainly on alert. Did the cassowary walk on by without a peek into the book?

    • Jack was not sure what to do, he really was stuck between a tree and a big bird 🙂 fortunately the book was not to it’s liking and it walked on…
