Weekly photo challenge : everyday life

Heading home from school

I am a bit late with my contribution this week as I have had rather a lot of distractions….

Now I have sorted out all the “challenges” of the past week, Matilda is waiting the spare parts and in the hands of a good mechanic. We have a roof over our head and a comfortable bed to sleep in, the weather is perfect. So time to explore.

Yesterday we walked approx 10 kilometres from Rowes Bay to the Strand, along the water-front and down Flinders Street, the newly refurbished CBD. As we walked along the Strand I saw these two young girls on their way home after a day at school. That for thousands of children is definitely an every day event.

They are two girls on the transition to young women. Every school day they would walk along this track. With the Marina full of expensive yachts on one side and the shady tropical trees and vegetation of the park-lands on the other. I wonder if they ever notice the beauty of this city they live in. I speculate about it and think back to my youth. It is, generally, only as you get older that you notice and appreciate your surrounds.

  1. “With the Marina full of expensive yachts on one side and the shady tropical trees and vegetation of the park-lands on the other.” They could be caught between two worlds, I wonder which one they’ll choose? natural beauty or the world of glitz and bling

  2. What a great photo. Yes I do hope those young ladies see the beauty around them. Lets just say they do!! I seem to remember when I was growing up in New Zealand I noticed the beauty around me.

I love to receive comments, maybe we could start a conversation.
