Snowy Hydro electric scheme

Snowy Hydro electric scheme, originally uploaded by gypsy woman1.

We now started on the second leg of crossing the Great Divide. Matilda had proven her capabilities in the Alps and it was now up the Snowy Mountain leg and over Mt Kosciuszko. This was to be a trip down memory lane for Jack as he had worked on the Snowy Mountain Hydro Scheme in 1956 and 57 and had not been back since then. First stop was the Murray 1 power station and museum which showed the history and building of this engineering marvel of the world.Check the link for more details on this amazing construction fete.

After spending almost 2 hours looking through the displays it was up the steep, narrow, winding road to the top.
